I have been walking the castle all day and it seems I could not bring myself to go into my fathers old smith. There is unfinished business in there but it seems I am too childish yet to enter without feeling remorse. So instead I have decided to make a stop at the Blue Moon. What better place to stop when your angry, and need to relax? Ale, is the perfect thing for me right now.
The alleys were barely lit, forcing me to walk down the crowded main streets. The streets were getting darker as the setting sun was almost below the castle wall. I couldn't help but to speed up my strides. My swords occasionally tapped against my legs. I hate being in the main alleys when it was so close to nightfall. Mothers are yelling for their kin to come home, people are running all over, and in general it is just much busier. I guess me speeding my pace isn't helping the other people who hate the before dark rush. Snipe peeped his head out of my black overcoat.
"Yes, yes, I know Snipe," I hushed his concerned chirp, "We're going to the Inn, so you must stay in my jacket pocket, and yes I will be taking it off."
I was standing in front of the wooden door simply staring. The varnishing were delicately made out of metal then bent, and molded. I reached for the metal door knob, just as I heard a dog yelp loudly behind me. Slowly, I turned on my heels as I heard the dog yelp again. I saw two men with sticks hitting a dog. I sighed heavily, and strutted over to them. I could feel my face flush red with anger. This is one thing I would not tolerate.
"So my dears, what might be going on here?" I said in an uneven tone. The taller of the two smirked, as the shorter of the two turned to face me. The shorter seemed to still be taller than me.
"Are you blind?," the grin on the short ones face got bigger, "You're an elf."
I brushed my jacket behind me as I placed my hands on my hips, nonchalantly showing my weapons to them.
"Well, well, what gave you that idea?" I said with a look of annoyance written all over my face. I didn't plan to hurt them, or even fight with them. I just wanted their shenanigans with the dog to stop. The taller one raised his stick and with all his might whacked the dog on top of his head as if he were trying to make a point. Another yelp was released from the dog.
"Isn't it time for yous to be getting home, look the suns almost down. Get." I said sternly.
"Listen lady, I'm not sure why you think you can tell us what to do, but we're perfectly content doing what we are. We don't gotta be no where, and you sure as hell can't tell us what to do," he said glaring at me.
I could feel the heat in my face getting hotter. The tall boy walked up to the dog and kicked it. The dog retaliated and snarled at the boy, attempting to scare it off. It curled its body up closer to itself in hopes of protection. I quickly weighted my options. Two men verses me. Both larger than me, and in the castle where I didn't have any allies. The odds were clearly stacked against me, for if these two called for help, I would surely be outnumbered. Yet, it was obvious I couldn't leave the dog to fend for itself against theses brutes.
"I'll ask one last time, leave the dog alone, or I will make you," my hands moved to the hilts of my swords, as I patiently waited for a reply. They looked at one another, then back at me and then held a stare for a moment. I could feel Snipe inside my coat clinging tightly to me. I knew he was frustrated I was getting into another fight because he was softly pawing at my rib cage. A tell tale sign that he and I were in a situation that he didn't like.
