Have you ever wondered what those living in the Dark Ages thought about the world? If it seemed as cruel to them as it seems to us?
Find out that it did. For these are the Dark Ages of the world. The delicate balance is about to tilt, to which side not even the wisest can say. There is no good nor bad because things are rarely if ever what they seem to be. Alliances are being broken long before they are even made.
Veridia was once a peaceful world, or at least as peaceful as worlds can get. [L] The races cohabited and collaborated, their kings and queens working together. Soon an alliance was formed, The Great Agreement, and the leaders of all joined in to preserve the ways of Veridia from the things the Seers were starting to predict. Alas, this was exactly what started the First War. One of the Agreement betrayed the rest and this led to the downfall of the Agreement. No one knew who it had been. Doubt clouded the minds and souls of all, fingers were pointed and blame spread like wildfire.
The elves retreated to their forests, disgusted by the instability of mortals and semi-mortals alike.[L] The magic wielders started to believe themselves superior to other races and considered humans to be 'undignified' to share their lives with, so they also moved across the land. Humans stayed but isolated themselves, turning to the material aspects of the world, the other races appearing ridiculous to them.
The First War, or the War of the Ancients, as it is called now, started when King Erhard of the humans was murdered by his own son, Matthias, who then reunited the forces of men and started attacking all the other races of Veridia. [O] Many died on all sides and every race had its share of the blame, but after 20 years, the War ended with a truce.
Now, in 1536, a new war is almost at the horizon. Alliances are being made once more, but they are even weaker than the first. Grudges are being held against each other, [K] conflicts are being dug up. There is no guessing what will happen next.
All events in Veridia take place in a parallel world, where magic flows everywhere. It has a Medieval theme and no modern technology may be used. For more information, please feel free to PM either myself or Eleanor, or even post here.
